U.S. Bean Harvest Slows Down

WASHINGTON - Oct 8/19 - SNS -- Harvesting of this year's dry edible bean crop slowed during the past week in the United States, judging from state level crop updates from the USDA's NASS.

The harvest is now 46% complete, compared to 41% last week and the recent five year average of 81% in the bin.

States growing more chickpeas than dry edible beans continue to show the most progress. Idaho reports 71% of the crop is now in the bin, versus 94% last year, while Montana has harvested 90%, the same as last year and Oregon reports 90% harvested, compared to 84% last year.
