U.S. Bean Condition Improves

WASHINGTON - Sep 3/19 - SNS -- Dry edible bean crop conditions in the United States reversed a little during the past week, judging from state level crop updates from the USDA's NASS.

The proportion rated in good condition rose from 54% to 60%, while crops rated in fair condition slipped from 30% to 28% and crops rated in poor or very poor conditions dropped from 16% to 13%. All states for which crop ratings are available account for 84% of the total seeded area.

Limited harvest progress continues to reported. Those states growing more chickpeas than dry edible beans showing the most progress. Idaho reports 22% of the crop is now in the bin, versus 23% last year, while Montana has harvested 30%, down from 47% last year and Oregon reports 29% harvested, compared to 50% last year.
