Mustard Harvest Lags Average

PANAMA - Aug 23/19 - SNS -- North American mustard seed markets remained relatively quiet during the past week, with the late start to the harvest limiting buying and selling interest.

Processors are reporting limited harvest activity, but as of August 19, Saskatchewan Agriculture continued to report that the entire mustard crop was still standing. Last year at this time, 24% of the crop was in the bin and on average 13% had been harvested.

Grower ideas about yield prospects will be published in Statistics Canada's August 28 production estimate. Since none of the crop was harvested, the survey can only be viewed as an indication of potential yields and production.
