Limited North American Harvest Activity

PANAMA - Aug 16/19 - SNS -- International chickpea markets finished the week's on an easier note as North American prices reflected growing concerns about the supply potential.

This was reflected in grower bid levels in the United States, which dropped to their lowest level since November as initial harvest activity started in parts of the growing area.

Though the quantities of new crop chickpeas are limited, their availability reinforces concern over the size of this summer's carry over from the 2018-19 marketing campaign.

Concerns persist about disease in the Canadian crop, but markets failed to respond because overall supply fundamentals continue to be weighted in favor of buyers.
