Marketing Year Starts Quiet in Mustard

PANAMA - Aug 16/19 - SNS -- Mustard seed markets registered a mixed performance over the past week in seasonally light trading conditions.

There was no reported harvest activity in mustard seed for the week ending August 12, which is similar to last year. Saskatchewan Agriculture reported the entire mustard crop was still standing. During the previous five years, 2% of the crop was in the bin by around the middle of August.

On average, around 40% of the crop is harvested by the end of August, typically taking until third week of October to enter its final stages.
