Lentils Finish With Modest Weakness

PANAMA - Jul 5/19 - SNS -- International lentil markets were relatively quiet during the past week, reflecting a holiday shortened trading week in Canada and the United States.

Increased import duties imposed on U.S. lentils by India has resulted in more aggressive pricing by some U.S. exporters, trying to move residual stocks before the harvest.

There was some response form exporters in Canada, as well as a modest reduction in the average price paid to Canadian farmers for red and green lentils for spot shipment.
