U.S. Flax Area Leaps Upward
WASHINGTON - Jun 28/19 - SNS -- Area planted to flaxseed in 2019 is estimated at 355,000 acres, up 147,000 acres, or 71% from 2018, according to the USDA's seeded area estimates for 2019.
The harvested area is forecast at 340,000 acres, up 142,000 acres, or 72% from last year. Planted acreage in North Dakota, the largest flaxseed-producing State, is up 76% from 2018.
Beginning in 2019, flaxseed estimates were discontinued in South Dakota.
