Little Change in Oat Seedings

WASHINGTON - Jun 28/19 - SNS -- Area seeded to oats for the 2019 crop year is estimated at 2.55 million acres, down slightly from 2018 for comparable States, according to the USDA's seeded area estimates for 2019.

Planted acreage is down or unchanged in 13 of the 23 major producing States compared with last year. Decreases of 20,000 acres or more are estimated in California, Michigan, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Texas. Area for harvest, forecast at 909,000 acres, is up 10% from 2018 for comparable States.

Beginning in 2019, oat estimates were discontinued in Alabama, Colorado, South Carolina, Washington, and Wyoming.
