MELBOURNE - Mar 22/19 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough will cross Victoria on Saturday as a weak cold front crosses Bass Strait. A stronger cold front associated with a deepening low in the Southern Ocean is forecast to reach far western Victoria late on Sunday, crossing the rest of the State early on Monday. A high pressure system will move into the Bight on Tuesday, extending a ridge across Victoria. Forecast for the rest of FridayHumid with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over central and eastern districts, clearing later this evening. Warm to hot inland but milder along the coast. Light winds tending northerly inland. Light to moderate east southeasterlies about the coast.Saturday 23 MarchMorning fog patches over Gippsland. Isolated showers and thunderstorms developing over the west during the early morning, extending to central and eastern areas during the morning then contracting to the east during the afternoon. A warm to hot and humid day. Moderate to fresh northeast to northerly winds shifting milder westerly in the far west during the morning then extending eastward during the day.Fire Danger - High to Very High.Sunday 24 MarchIsolated showers, tending to areas of rain over the far north and east during the day. Showers increasing in the far west during the evening. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the southwest during the afternoon and evening. Warm and partly cloudy with light winds tending northerly from the west and freshening during the afternoon and eveningMonday 25 MarchScattered over southern and mountain districts, tending to rain at first in the northeast. Isolated showers extending over the north, though remaining dry over the far northwest. Showers contracting to the coast during the afternoon. A cool day with fresh to strong and gusty westerly winds.Tuesday 26 MarchPartly cloudy in the south with isolated showers. Dry and mostly sunny across the north.
