Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 22/19 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure ridge over waters to the south of SA will continue to weaken overnight tonight. A trough will move over the north on Saturday afternoon and evening ahead of a cold front which will move over southern coastal districts late Saturday and early Sunday. A more significant cold front will move over the south late Sunday and early Monday. A high pressure system will become established south of the Bight by late Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayDry apart from the slight chance of a shower west of Nullarbor and developing about the Lower South East district. Possible thunderstorms west of Nullarbor. Light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, tending east to northeasterly in the west.Saturday 23 MarchEarly morning fog patches over parts of the southern agricultural area. A slight to medium chance of showers about the Lower South East in the early morning. A slight chance of showers about the West Coast district, far south of the pastoral districts and parts of the northern agricultural area, more likely in the south of the North West Pastoral district. Possible thunderstorms in the far west of the West Coast district and the south of the North West Pastoral district. A slight chance of showers developing about southern coasts late evening. Mild to warm in the south grading to hot to very hot in the far north. Light to moderate southeast to southwesterly winds becoming fresh during the afternoon with areas of raised dust possible in the north of the North West Pastoral district. Light north to northeasterly winds in the northeast.Sunday 24 MarchA slight to medium chance of showers over most districts, increasing to a medium to high chance of showers and areas of rain about the south of the pastoral districts and parts of the northern agricultural area. A medium to high chance of showers also about the southern agricultural area. Possible thunderstorms over the north of the pastoral districts, about Adelaide and districts to the southeast. Warm in the south grading to hot to very hot in the north. Light to moderate southeast to southwesterly winds, tending moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly in the south during the afternoon.Monday 25 MarchA slight chance of showers northeast of about Leigh Creek, increasing to a medium to high chance of showers, areas of rain and possible thunderstorms over the north of the North East Pastoral district. Possible heavy falls in the far northeast. A slight chance of showers near the west coast and about the agricultural area, increasing to a medium to high chance of showers about the southern agricultural area. Cool to mild in the south, grading to warm in the far north. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds, strong near southern coasts.Tuesday 26 March
A medium to high chance of showers about the far northeast with possible heavy falls. A slight chance of showers about southern and western coasts. Generally cool to mild with moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.
Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Tuesday are likely to be generally 1 to 5 mm over the agricultural area and the far west, increasing to 5 to 10 mm over the north of the Mid North district, far south of the Flinders and pastorals districts, the Mt Lofty Ranges and the Lower South East. Falls of 10 to 30 mm are expected over the remaining southern parts of the pastoral districts and the northeast of the State. Falls of 50 to 100 mm are possible over the far northeastern corner of the North East Pastoral district.
Wednesday until FridayA slight chance of a shower in the far northeast on Wednesday, then a slight to medium chance of showers developing about southern coastal areas on Thursday and extending over the agricultural area on Friday. Cool to mild in the south grading to mild to warm in the north with mainly moderate southeast to southwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Saturday.Product IDS10033

Within this 4-hour window there will be an outage between 2.5 and 3.0 hours affecting observations from Automatic Weather Stations.
