Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 21/19 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure ridge over waters to the south of SA will weaken late Friday and early Saturday. A trough will move over the north on Saturday afternoon and evening ahead of a cold front which will move over southern coastal districts late Saturday and early Sunday. A more significant cold front will move over the south late Sunday and early Monday. A high pressure system will become established south of the Bight by late Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayDry apart from the slight chance of a shower in the far southwest and also about the far south of the Lower South East and Kangaroo Island districts. Light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, fresh near the coast.Friday 22 MarchPossible early morning fog patches about the Mid North. Dry apart from the slight chance of a shower west of Nullarbor and about the Lower South East district. Possible thunderstorms west of Nullarbor. Warm in the south grading to hot to very hot in the north. Light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, tending east to northeasterly in the west.Saturday 23 MarchEarly morning fog patches over parts of Eyre Peninsula and the southern agricultural area. A slight chance of an early morning shower about the Lower South East. A slight chance of showers about the West Coast district, far south of the pastoral districts and parts of the northern agricultural area. A slight chance of showers developing about southern coasts late evening. Mild to warm in the south grading to hot to very hot in the far north. Light to moderate southeast to southwesterly winds becoming fresh during the afternoon with areas of raised dust possible in the north of the North West Pastoral district. Light north to northeasterly winds in the northeast.Sunday 24 March
A slight chance of showers over most districts, increasing to a medium to high chance of showers and areas of rain about the south of the pastoral districts and parts of the northern agricultural area. A medium to high chance of showers about the southern agricultural area as well. Possible thunderstorms over the pastoral and Flinders districts and also about the South East districts. Warm in the south grading to hot to very hot in the north. Light to moderate southeast to southwesterly winds, tending moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly in the south during the afternoon.
Monday 25 March
A slight chance of showers north of about Leigh Creek, increasing to a medium to high chance of showers, areas of rain and possible thunderstorms over the north of the North East Pastoral district. Possible heavy falls in the far north of the North East Pastoral district. A slight chance of showers near the west coast and about the agricultural area, increasing to a medium to high chance of showers about the southern agricultural area. Possible early morning thunderstorm in the south of the Lower South East district. Cool to mild in the south, grading to warm in the far north. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds, strong near southern coasts.
Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Monday are likely to be less than 1 mm in the far northwest and the West Coast district, increasing to 1 to 5 mm over the remainder of the state. Local falls of 5 to 15 mm are possible over the North East Pastoral district and the south of the North West Pastoral district grading to falls of 15 to 40 mm in the far north of the North East Pastoral district.
Tuesday until ThursdayA slight chance of showers about the north of the pastoral districts. increasing to a medium to high chance of showers, areas of rain and possible thunderstorms in the far northeast, all gradually contracting northeast to clear by Thursday. Possible heavy falls in the far north of the North East Pastoral district. A slight chance of showers near the west coast and about the agricultural area, increasing to a medium to high chance of showers about southern coastal districts, clearing during Wednesday morning. A slight chance of shower developing about western and southern coasts later on Thursday. Generally cool to mild on Tuesday then gradually warming during Wednesday and Thursday. Moderate southwest to southeasterly winds turning southeast to northeasterly.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Friday.Product IDS10033

Within this 4-hour window there will be an outage between 2.5 and 3.0 hours affecting observations from Automatic Weather Stations.
