Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 21/19 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A broad trough of low pressure lies off the New South Wales coast, with another over western New South Wales. The inland trough is deepening today and on Friday in response to an approaching upper-level system, and is then expected to drift across western and southern parts of the state during the weekend. The next significant cold front looks set to push through southern districts on Monday, continuing through the north on Tuesday. Remnant moisture from Tropical Cyclone Trevor (currently over far north Queensland) may influence the weather in New South Wales in the new week, although there remains a high level of uncertainty around this.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayA shower or two in the east with the chance of a thunderstorm along the ranges, more likely about the southern and northern ranges. Dry and partly cloudy in the west. South to southeasterly winds near the coast, and generally light variable winds inland.Friday 22 MarchA shower or two in the east, mainly about the ranges. The chance of an early thunderstorm across the south, then in the east during the afternoon and evening. Thunderstorms are more likely about the southeast and the northern ranges in the afternoon. Dry and partly cloudy in the northwest. Daytime temperatures near average east of the Divide, and above average in the west, most notably in the far west. East to southeasterly winds near the coast, tending northeast to northwesterly inland, freshening in the far west.Saturday 23 MarchA shower or two in the wast, mainly about the ranges, with the chance of thunderstorms. Dry and partly cloudy in the west. Daytime temperatures generally above average, particularly in the far west, although a little below average about the southern ranges. North to northeasterly winds near the coast, freshening in the south. West to northwesterly winds inland, freshening across the south.Sunday 24 MarchThe chance of showers across the south, and about the northern ranges. The chance of thunderstorms about the northern ranges. Dry and partly cloudy elsewhere. Daytime temperatures above average in the north, especially near the Queensland border, and near average in the south. Southeast to northeasterly winds near the coast, tending generally west to northwesterly inland.Monday 25 MarchThe chance of showers across all but the far northeast, more likely about the southern and central ranges and adjacent western slopes. Cloudy in the far northeast. Daytime temperatures below average across the south and west, above average in the northeast. North to northwesterly winds, becoming fresh to strong about the southern ranges. Winds turning cooler south to southwesterly across the south and west, and tending north to northeasterly along the northern coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Friday.Product IDN10031
