MELBOURNE - Mar 20/19 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system centred to the south of New Zealand will continue to extend a ridge over waters to the south of SA until late this week. A trough will deepen near the eastern border on Friday and drift east ahead of a vigorous front which is likely to cross the south of the State late on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayDry and mostly clear apart from the slight chance of a shower about the far south of the Lower South East and Kangaroo Island districts. Light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, tending east to southeasterly in the west. Moderate to fresh sea breezes about the Gulf coasts.Thursday 21 MarchEarly morning fog patches over parts of the West Coast district, Eyre Peninsula and the southern agricultural area. Dry apart from the slight chance of a shower in the far west and also about the far south of the Lower South East and Kangaroo Island districts. Mild to warm about southern coasts, grading to hot in the north and west. Light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, tending southeast to northeasterly in the west.Friday 22 MarchEarly morning fog patches over parts of the West Coast district, Eyre Peninsula and the southern agricultural area. Dry apart from the slight chance of a shower in the far west and the Lower South East. Warm in the south grading to hot to very hot in the north. Light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, tending east to northeasterly in the west.Saturday 23 MarchEarly morning fog patches over parts of the West Coast district, Eyre Peninsula and the southern agricultural area. A slight chance of showers in the west and about southern coasts, increasing to a medium chance of showers in the south of the Lower South East district. Mild to warm in the south grading to hot to very hot in the far north. Light to moderate southeast to southwesterly winds becoming moderate to fresh during the afternoon. Light north to northeasterly winds in the far north.Sunday 24 March A slight to medium chance of showers and possible thunderstorms over the Pastoral and Flinders districts, increasing to a medium to high chance of showers about southern agricultural districts. Late thunderstorms also possible about the Lower South East. Warm in the south grading to hot to very hot in the north. Light to moderate southeast to southwesterly winds, tending moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly in the south during the afternoon. Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Sunday are likely to be less than 1 mm in the far north increasing to less than 5 mm over the remainder of the state. Isolated falls of 5 to 15 mm are possible over the southern Pastoral districts, mostly with thunderstorms. Monday until WednesdayA cold front will clear the far east of the state during Monday, with a southwesterly flow continuing to produce areas of cloud with a slight to medium chance of showers over the southern half of the state, increasing to a high to very high chance in the far south. Showers will contract south during Tuesday, before becoming confined to the Lower South East on Wednesday. A medium to high chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms in a separate band developing in the far northeast of the state on Monday and Tuesday. Cool to mild in the south, becoming mild to warm in the north.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Thursday.Product IDS10033 Notice Board 31 additional forecast locations for SA Changes to state Weather and Warnings pages --> BoM is upgrading its IT systems in South Australia on Tuesday 5 December 2017.
