Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 19/19 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A slow moving high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea will extend a strong ridge south of Victoria until at least Friday, while a low pressure trough lingers over the west Tasman Sea. Another low pressure trough will develop over western Victoria during Friday before moving eastwards across the State during Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayPatchy morning fog near the ranges. Scattered showers in the east, mainly in Gippsland. Isolated morning drizzle in the southwest. Isolated thunderstorms about the eastern ranges during the afternoon. Areas of smoke haze in the east. Mild to warm and mostly cloudy in the south, tending hot and sunny in the north. Light southwest to southeasterly winds and afternoon coastal sea breezes.Fire Danger -  High in north. Low to Moderate in south.Thursday 21 MarchPatchy morning fog. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in the east, mainly in Gippsland. Isolated morning drizzle in the southwest. Mild to warm in the south but hot over the north. Light winds and afternoon coastal sea breezes.Friday 22 MarchIsolated showers and the chance of a thunderstorm developing in the east during the afternoon, mostly about the ranges. Isolated showers developing in the southwest. Dry and partly cloudy elsewhere. Warm to hot, milder along the coast. Light winds tending northerly inland. Light to moderate east to southeasterlies about the coast.Saturday 23 MarchIsolated showers and thunderstorms, mainly over the eastern half of the State. A warm to hot and partly cloudy day. Moderate to fresh northerly wind turning milder west to southwesterly in the far west during the morning before extending to central areas during the afternoon and evening.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Wednesday.Product IDV10310
