MELBOURNE - Mar 19/19 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system centred to the south of New Zealand will continue to extend a ridge over waters to the south of SA until late this week. A trough will deepen near the eastern border on Friday and drift east ahead of a vigorous front which is likely to cross the south of the state late on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayEarly morning fog patches over parts of the West Coast district, Eyre Peninsula and the remaining southern agricultural area. Dry apart from the slight chance of a shower about the far south of the Lower South East and Kangaroo Island districts. Warm in the south grading to hot in the north and west. Light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, tending east to southeasterly in the west.Thursday 21 MarchEarly morning fog patches over parts of the West Coast district, Eyre Peninsula and the southern agricultural area. Dry apart from the slight chance of a shower in the far west and also about the far south of the Lower South East and Kangaroo Island districts. Warm in the south grading to hot in the north and west. Light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, tending southeast to northeasterly in the west.Friday 22 MarchEarly morning fog patches over parts of the West Coast district, Eyre Peninsula and the southern agricultural area. Dry apart from the slight chance of a shower in the far west. Warm in the south grading to hot to very hot in the north. Light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, tending east to northeasterly in the west.Saturday 23 March Early morning fog patches over parts of the West Coast district and Eyre Peninsula. A slight chance of showers in the far west and about southern coasts, increasing to a medium chance of showers in the south of the Lower South East district. Mild to warm in the south grading to hot to very hot in the far north. Light to moderate southeast to southwesterly winds becoming moderate to fresh during the afternoon. Light north to northeasterly winds in the far north. Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Saturday will be confined to the far west and far southern coasts of the State and are expected to be less than 1 mm about the southern coast, possibly reaching 5 mm in the far west. Sunday until TuesdayA cold front will move across the south of the State late on Sunday, bringing areas of cloud with a slight to medium chance of showers over the southern half of the state, increasing to a high to very high chance in the far south. Showers will slowly contract south during Monday, easing to a slight to medium chance over southern agricultural areas by Tuesday. A slight to medium chance of showers in a separate band developing in the far northeast of the state on Monday and Tuesday. Warm in the south grading to hot in the north, but becoming cool to mild throughout by Tuesday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Wednesday.Product IDS10033 Notice Board 31 additional forecast locations for SA Changes to state Weather and Warnings pages --> BoM is upgrading its IT systems in South Australia on Tuesday 5 December 2017.
