Chickpeas Mostly Easier

PANAMA - Mar 15/19 - SNS -- International chickpea markets were generally easier in light trade during the past week, with supplies available from exporters remaining ahead of the near term needs of end users.

Spreads between large and smaller caliber kabuli chickpeas remain wide, reflecting massive surpluses of medium and small caliber product.

Seeded area is expected to drop sharply in most countries. But, residual supplies from the current marketing year may continue to weigh on markets, while spreads between new and old crop product could add to pricing confusion in the market.
