Lentils Sense Negative Tone

PANAMA - Mar 8/19 - SNS -- Lentil markets are showing signs of returning to a short term buyers market, with end users seemingly well covered and exporters only filling in supply gaps at lower prices.

Competition between origins and/or exporters remains strong in both red and green lentils, resulting in some weakness in both exporting asking prices and prices offered to growers.

Official export trade data paints a mixed picture, with Canadian exports of all classes of lentils up over the same time last year between August and December, while shipments from both the United States and Australia are down.
