Spring Wheat Harvest Soared 50%
WASHINGTON - Feb 8/19 - SNS -- Production of spring wheat other than durum ended up rising 50% from 416 million to 623 million bushels, according to the USDA's final crop report for 2018.
Harvested area totaled 12.9 million acres, up 27% from 2017. The United States yield was estimated at a record high 48.3 bushels per acre, 7.3 bushels above 2017. Record high yields were estimated in Idaho and North Dakota for 2018. Of the total production, 587 million bushels were Hard Red Spring wheat, up 53% from the revised 2017 total.
