Kabuli Markets Hold Steady

PANAMA - Jan 11/19 - SNS -- International chickpea markets were largely steady through the past week, with worries about this year's production levels adding some support.

Markets expect farmers in Canada and the United States to sharply reduce land in the crop, while initial indications are at that seeded area in Mexico will be down from last year.

The level of decline in Mexico, which sets the tone for large caliber kabuli chickpea markets, could be reduced if prices offered to farmers in that country advance in response to recent frost events in one of the country's main growing regions.
