Mustard Markets Mixed

PANAMA - Nov 2/18 - SNS -- North American mustard seed markets posted a somewhat mixed performance during the past week as harvest activity reached its final stages.

Improved availability of brown mustard seed saw grower bids lose 3% on the week in Canada, while yellow and oriental posted modest advances as offers from growers inched just behind the immediate needs of processors.

Unless average yields are closer to those reported by provincial agriculture departments than initially forecast by Statistics Canada, inventories of mustard seed should remain tight for yellow and oriental relative to prospective demand.
