Mustard Harvest Pace May Quicken

PANAMA - Oct 12/18 - SNS -- North American mustard seed markets finished the week's trading mostly unchanged, helped by the slower than average pace of the Canadian harvest.

The week started with 80% of the Canadian crop in the bin, compared to 98% at the same time last year and the recent average of 93% complete after the first week of October.

The harvest only advanced 10% in the previous month because of cold and wet harvest conditions. Numerous frost events occurred during the month, raising doubts about the quality of much of the last third of the crop.
