U.S. Harvest 40% Complete

WASHINGTON - Sep 17/18 - SNS -- Roughly 45% of this year's expected dry edible bean and chickpea crop is in the bin, judging from the USDA's state level harvest progress estimates.

The harvest is most advanced in states which are growing the biggest share of the chickpea crop. Crop reporters in Montana report 79% of this year's expected edible bean and chickpea crops are in the bin, compared to 78% in Washington state, 68% in Idaho, and 58% in Oregon.

North Dakota is the largest producing state in the country, with 74% of this year's crop now in the bin, compared to 58% last week and 41% last year.
