Firm Start to Season For Mustard

PANAMA - Aug 3/18 - SNS -- Mustard seed markets started the 2018-19 marketing year on a firmer note, with average grower bids posted modest week over week gains over worries about this year's yield potential.

Harvesting of other crops is underway in Saskatchewan, with farmers reporting average to below average yields depending on field conditions. Variability was expected because most rainfall events during the growing season have been localized.

The week ended with the best bids rising 1% for yellow and oriental mustard seed, and 7% for brown. Bids to growers finished the week, ranging up to U.S. $595 per metric ton (MT) for farmers dressed No 1 Canada yellow mustard delivered processing plants, $459 for oriental and $561 for brown.
