Canadian Farms See Record Low Prices

PANAMA - Jul 27/18 - SNS -- The world's chickpea markets maintained their easier tone through the past week, with spreads between large and other calibers remaining relatively wide.

Many market participants belive spreads will widen further, with grower markets in both Canada and the United continuing to show a weaker undertone.

This is reflected in the ride experienced by farmers in Canada. Bids for farmers dressed 9mm kabuli type chickpeas set a new record high during the marketing year, reaching CDN $1543 or U.S. $1239 per metric ton (MT). But, finished the 2017-18 marketing year by at a record low $463 MT or U.S. $355 MT.
