Old Crop Mustard Eases

PANAMA - Jul 14/18 - SNS -- Spot markets for North American mustard continued to decline during the past week, partly reflecting efforts by processors to avoid accumulating inventories before the coming harvest.

This saw average grower bids for old crop No 2 or better yellow and oriental drop to a discount to new crop bids, while spot bids for brown mustard seed are still maintaining a modest premium.

So far, crops are in better condition than at this time last year, despite above average temperatures. Though rainfall is spotty, it is delivering enough benefit to lucky farmers.
