Kharif Season MSPs Boosted

DELHI - Jul 4/18 - SNS -- The Indian government authorized a significant increase in minimum support prices (MSP) for this year's kharif or summer season crops.

The percentage increases were not uniform, reflecting an effort by the government to set them at levels which reflect the average cost of production for the country.

This saw the MSP for arhar or tur or pigeon pea rise 4.13% to 5675 rupees per 100 kilograms or U.S. $871 per metric ton (MT), while moong jumped 25.11% to 6975 of $1070 MT and urad or black mapte 3.7% to 5600 or $859 MT.
