Dry Bean Output Falling

PANAMA - Jun 29/18 - SNS -- This year's dry edible bean crops in Canada and the United States will be down significantly from last year, reflecting a sharp drop in seeded area from 2.52 to 2.18 million acres.

Plantings in the United States are thought to total 1.88 million acres, down from 2.15 million last year; while Canadian area fell from 363,100 to 300,800 acres.

Average yields would see production in the United States total 1.0 million metric tons (MT), compared to 1.36 million last year. Canadian output could drop from 354,400 to 257,000 acres.
