U.S. Reduces Soybean Area

WASHINGTON - Jun 29/18 - SNS -- The 2018 soybean planted area is estimated at 89.6 million acres, down 1% from last year, according to the USDA's seeded area estimates for this year.

Compared with last year, planted acreage is down or unchanged in 14 of the 31 major producing States. Area for harvest, forecast at 88.9 million acres, is down 1% from 2017.

Producers planted 94% of the 2018 soybean acreage to herbicide resistant seed varieties, unchanged from 2017.
