Dry Beans Show Weakness

PANAMA - Jun 22/18 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets finished the week's trading with a somewhat weaker undertone because of concerns over global trade tensions and difficulties selling to some key destinations.

Seeding of this year's dry edible bean crop is in its final stages in North America, switching the focus of many processors and exporters to new crop shipping positions and the need to attract additional opening season demand.

These changes in sentiment were reflected in the U.S. spot index for beans, which fell 1.6 points on the week to finish at 121.7. Other major pulse price indices finished the week mixed. The Canadian pulse price index was slipped 0.7 points to finish at 134.7 while the world pulse price index eased 0.6 points to close at 136.3.
