Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 21/18 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure ridge over SA will weaken later on Friday ahead of a weakening cold front expected to move over southern coastal districts during Saturday. Another high pressure system will develop south of the Bight during the weekend and a trough will develop over the far west during Sunday. This trough will dissipate on Monday and the high will move eastward and extend a ridge over SA.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayPatchy late evening fog about the agricultural area and West Coast district. A cool to cold evening with mainly light winds.Friday 22 JuneCold at first with areas of frost over inland parts. Areas of morning fog in the west and patchy early fog over the remainder of the agricultural area. A slight to medium chance of showers developing over southern and western coasts. Generally cool with light winds, tending moderate northwesterly near southern coasts.Saturday 23 JuneCold at first with areas of frost, mostly on and east of the ranges and in the far northwest. Areas of morning fog about southern coastal districts and in the west. A slight to medium chance of showers about the southern agricultural area, West Coast district and far southwest of the North West Pastoral district, increasing to a high chance of showers about southern and western coasts. Cool grading to mild in the far north, with light to moderate southwest to southeast winds.Sunday 24 June
Early frost patches about and east of the ranges and in the far northwest. Early fog patches in the south and west. A slight chance of showers about central and eastern parts of the southern agricultural area increasing to a medium chance over southern and western parts of Eyre Peninsula, the West Coast district and the far west of the Northwest Pastoral district and a high chance of showers west of about Fowlers Bay. Cool, grading to mild in the far northeast. Mainly light southwest to southeasterly winds.
Monday 25 June
Patchy morning fog about the northern agricultural area and in the west. A slight to medium chance of showers about Lower South East, Kangaroo Island, Eyre Peninsula and West Coast districts and a slight chance of showers developing in the far northeast. Cold at first with areas of frost about and east of the Flinders and Mount Lofty Ranges then a cool day. Generally light southeast to northeasterly winds.
Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Monday are expected to be less than 1 mm over the northern agricultural area and in the west, increasing to 1 to 5 mm over the southern agricultural area and West Coast district. Less than 1 mm is expected in the far northeast.
Tuesday until ThursdayA slight chance of showers in the far northeast clearing during Tuesday. A slight chance of showers about southern and western coasts clearing early Tuesday. Dry conditions on Wednesday then a slight to medium chance of showers developing near southern and far western coasts during Thursday evening. Cold mornings with areas of frost then cool days. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds turning northerly in the west and south during Wednesday then freshening in the west and south during Thursday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Friday.Product IDS10033

This will occur between 17:00 and 21:00 (ACDT).
Within this 4-hour window there will be an outage between 2.5 and 3.0 hours affecting observations from Automatic Weather Stations.
All South Australian forecast and warning services will continue to be monitored and updated through back up arrangements.
