Firm Undertone in Birdseeds

PANAMA - May 25/18 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets finished the week's trading with a firmer undertone, helped by relatively tight onfarm supplies of many products.

White proso millet seed markets finished the week with grower bids advancing 25 cents per pound for farmers dressed product delivered processing plants or elevators in the U.S. midwest. The last time bids were eight cents or better was in July of 2014.

Canadian canaryseed was steady in seasonally light trade, with offers from growers well balanced with the short term needs of the market. Seeding of the crop made good progress through the third week of May, with 61% sown, up from 57% last year and above the recent five year average of 57%.
