Little Change in Chickpeas

PANAMA - May 18/18 - SNS -- Chickpea markets were little changed in seasonally light trading conditions.

Seeding of this year's crops is making good progress in both Canada and the United States. Saskatchewan Agriculture reports 54% of the crop has been sown, compared to 52% by the middle of May last year and the recent average of 39%.

Markets remain focussed on seeding progress. But, that will likely be replaced by worries about the hot and dry conditions now prevalent across much of western Canada. Growers in Saskatchewan say they need a good soaking rain within two weeks, while their counterparts in Manitoba say they need one now.
