Drought Worries Support Dry Beans

PANAMA - May 18/18 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets finished the week's trading on a mixed note, with North American beans helped by rising worries about moisture conditions in Manitoba and parts of North Dakota.

At the start of May, most of Manitoba's growing area was rated as experiencing a moderate drought, with severe drought conditions south of Brandon and midway between Winnipeg and the U.S. border.

Moderate to severe drought was also reported across the northern third of North Dakota. Most of the remainder of the state is rated as abnormally dry for the middle of May.
