Birdseed Markets Steady
PANAMA - May 18/18 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient markets were relatively steady during the past week, with the product available from processors and growers remaining in line with the short needs of the market.
Seeding of the Canadian canaryseed crop made good progress through the middle of May, with 26& of the crop sown, up from 20% last year and above the recent five year average of 19%.
Soil moisture conditions in areas where canaryseed tends to be grown are mixed, with growers in western Saskatchewan seeding into better conditions than their counterparts in south eastern Saskatchewan.
