Demand Helps Field Peas
PANAMA - Apr 21/18 - SNS -- Field peas markets in Canada and the United States maintained their positive tone through the past week.
Markets in the United States were helped by the USDA's purchases 28,650 metric tons (MT) of whole and green split peas plus 1,500 MT of yellow split peas for shipment from origin in May.
In Canada, efforts by exporters to cover feed pea sales to China helped firm both bids to farmers and export asking prices. Though the business is price sensitive, it helped keep the short term needs of markets just ahead of the selling interest by farmers.
