Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 20/18 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over Tasmania extends a ridge across eastern Victoria, while a weak trough lies near western Victoria. The high will slowly move over the Tasman Sea today as the trough crosses western and central Victoria. The trough is then expected to slide away to the southeast on Sunday morning as another high develops to the west. This new high will then move across Tasmania later on Sunday before reaching the Tasman Sea on Monday as a cold front and associated low pressure system cross the Bight. The front is forecast to cross western and central Victoria later on Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayFog areas in the south and east clearing during the morning. Isolated showers in the west extending to central districts during the afternoon then contracting to southern parts in the evening. Isolated thunderstorms in the west clearing by the evening. Areas of smoke haze. Mild to warm and partly cloudy during the day, with light winds tending southerly in the afternoon and sea breezes about the Gippsland coast.Fire Danger -  Moderate to High.Sunday 22 AprilIsolated morning fog in the east and northwest. Isolated showers clearing southern parts in the early morning. Isolated afternoon showers in the far northeast. Otherwise dry and mostly sunny apart from areas of smoke haze. A mild to warm day with generally light winds and afternoon coastal sea breezes.Monday 23 AprilAreas of morning fog in the south and east clearing to a dry and sunny day apart from areas of smoke haze. A warm day with light to moderate northerly winds, freshening in the west, and afternoon sea breezes along the Gippsland coast.Tuesday 24 AprilIsolated showers extending across western and central parts during the day. Dry and mostly sunny in the far east. Areas of smoke haze. Warm with moderate to locally fresh northerly winds shifting cooler southwesterly in western and central parts in the afternoon and evening.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Saturday.Product IDV10310
