Weak Lentil Export Movement

PANAMA - Apr 6/18 - SNS -- Unofficial trade data suggests March was another lackluster month for Canadian bulk lentil exports, with preliminary data suggesting only around 23,000 metric tons (MT) was loaded to ships and bulk railcars during the month.

This has pushed bulk loadings by primary and terminal elevators to just under 200,000 MT during the eight months spanning August through March, down around two thirds from the 667,400 loaded during the same period last season.

The implication is the marketing year could end with bulk shipments dropping well under 400,000 MT for the first time since the 2012-13 season.
