Slow Bulk Chickpea Movement

PANAMA - Apr 6/18 - SNS -- The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) reports no bulk chickpeas were loaded for export through reporting terminals and primary elevators between March 26 to April 1.

That left season to date exports to 2,600 MT, compared to 2,200 MT exported during the previous marketing year.

Farmers delivered 300 MT of chickpeas to primary elevators during the week. This lifts season to date deliveries by farmers to 46,100 MT, compared to 31,100 MT during the same period last season.

Elevators and terminals reported selling 200 MT of bulk chickpeas to domestic buyers during the week. So far this season, sales total 7,500 MT, compared to 6,300 MT during the same period last season.

Commercial stocks of chickpeas total 11,400 MT in primary elevators. There are no chickpeas in transit by rail to Canadian ports, compared to none the previous week.

For chickpeas in primary elevators: 2,200 MT are located in Manitoba; 8,900 MT in Saskatchewan; and 300 MT in Alberta.
