WASHINGTON - Mar 29/18 - SNS -- U.S. farmers intend to plant 2.08 million acres of canola this year, down just 1,000 acres from last year's record high planted area, according to the USDA's seeding intentions report for 2018.
Compared with last year, planted area is expected to increase in 4 of the major canola-producing States, with acreage in Idaho expected to nearly double from 2017.
Planted area in North Dakota, the leading canola-producing State, is up 4% from last year. If realized, planted area in Idaho, North Dakota, and Washington will be record highs.
