Bulk Movement Helps Lentils

PANAMA - Mar 16/18 - SNS -- North American lentil markets were little changed during the past week, helped by a modest improvement in bulk lentil movement into export positions in Canada.

While only a small quantity of bulk lentils were loaded for export during the first half of the month, purchases from growers suggest exporters are amassing stocks to cover pending sales.

The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) reports 1,000 MT of bulk lentils were loaded for export through reporting terminals and primary elevators between March 5 to March 11. Season to date exports now sit at 194,600 MT, compared to the 607,200 MT reported at this time last season.
