Nervous Tone in Beans and Pulses

PANAMA - Mar 3/18 - SNS -- Dry edible bean and other pulse markets finished the week on an uneasy note because of renewed worries India will further restrict pulse imports this year.

The mood was not helped by reports that Argentina will soon complete seeding, with fields having better than average yield potential. Though drought in the corn growing areas is having an impact on prospective yields for both ordinary and popping corn, soil moisture conditions in the bean areas are excellent.

This was reflected in markets in the United States, with the U.S. spot index for beans finishing the week down 0.6 points to finish the week at 122.9.
