Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 25/18 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front and associated trough will continue to move across northeast New South Wales today, and may deepen to a transient low off the northern coast this morning before moving east over the Tasman Sea by this evening. Behind this system, a ridge of high pressure will develop along the New South Wales coast as a high pressure system moves across the Bight and into the southern Tasman Sea. On Wednesday a front will slip to the south with yet another ridge of high pressure extending along the New South Wales coast in the second half of the week.
Forecast for the rest of MondayRain and showers across the east, contracting to the northeast through the day. Thunderstorms possible about the northeast districts, particularly the Northern Rivers and adjacent slopes through the afternoon. Heavy falls are possible with thunderstorms. The chance of an early thunderstorm about the Riverina, southern slopes and Alps. Sunny in the far west. Daytime temperatures below average, particularly about central eastern parts. Southwest to southeasterly winds, fresh to strong along the coast. Hazardous Surf Conditions along the northern coast.Tuesday 27 FebruaryPartly cloudy on and east of the Divide with the chance of a shower about the northeast. Sunny and dry in the west. Daytime temperatures below average in the east, tending about average in the west. East to northeast winds, tending south to southeasterly in the northeast.Wednesday 28 FebruaryPartly cloudy in the north, mostly sunny otherwise. Daytime temperatures above average except for the northeastern inland. East to northeasterly winds with a moderate to fresh south to southwesterly change extending through western and southern parts during the afternoon.Thursday 1 MarchMostly cloudy with the slight chance of a shower east of the Divide. Mostly sunny and dry in the west. Daytime temperatures above average, particularly about central and northern parts. South to southeasterly winds tending variable in the northeast and easterly about the ranges and western slopes in the evening.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Monday.Product IDN10031
