Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 21/18 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system just to the east of Tasmania extends a ridge up the eastern seaboard. On Thursday a low pressure system will move southeastwards from the head of the Bight and will pass near southwest Victoria Friday night as an associated trough reaches far western Victoria. The low will move rapidly away to the southeast on Saturday as cold front crosses Victoria, leaving a cool, fresh southwest to southerly airflow across the State on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayCloudy with showers mostly confined to the southwest of the State. Northerly winds inland and coastal seabreezes both easing this evening.Thursday 22 FebruaryCloudy areas of rain over southwest Victoria. Patchy rain extending to remaining central and western districts grading to dry conditions over the far east. Generally warm with light to moderate northeast to easterly winds, but cooler over the southwest.Fire Danger -  Generally moderate to high.Friday 23 FebruaryEarly rain in the south during the morning, then a partly cloudy day with only isolated showers to follow over most districts. The chance of thunderstorms over the far west during the later afternoon or evening. Warm to hot with fresh and gusty northerly winds shifting moderate westerly in the far west later in the day.Saturday 24 FebruaryScattered showers extending across southern and mountain districts. Isolated showers over the northern plains but dry over the far northwest. Isolated thunderstorms in the east clearing by evening. Mild to warm with fresh and gusty northerly winds ahead of a cooler fresh westerly change extending from the west.Sunday 25 FebruaryScattered showers across southern and mountain districts. Dry over the northern plains. Cool in the south, but a little milder over the north with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds, strong about parts of the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Thursday.Product IDV10310
