Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 21/18 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the southwestern Tasman Sea extends a ridge to the north coast, maintaining generally fine conditions over New South Wales for the next day or two. As the high moves further east, a coast trough is forecast to develop over the far north coast on Friday, bringing showers, possibly heavy at times, to the far northeast. This trough will dissipate early Saturday as a front approaches the state from the southwest. This front, and an associated inland trough, is forecast move through most of the state during the weekend, bringing showers and the chance of thunderstorms to most districts.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine and partly cloudy. Northeast to southeasterly winds.Thursday 22 FebruaryFine, apart from a the chance of a shower along the far north coast and adjacent ranges, most likely in the far northeast corner at night. Daytime temperatures near average. East to northeast winds.Fire Danger -  Very High: North Western fire area.Friday 23 FebruaryShowers over the far north coast and adjacent ranges, possibly heavy at times near the coast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere, apart from the chance of a light shower over the southwest. Daytime temperatures near or above average, tending below average in the far northeast. Fresh north to northeast winds.Saturday 24 FebruaryShowers and isolated thunderstorms developing in most districts. Mostly fine in the far west. Daytime temperatures above average across most areas and well above average over southern and central coastal districts. Fresh northerly winds ahead of a southwest to southerly change in the west and over the far south coast later in the day.Sunday 25 FebruaryShowers and the chance of thunderstorm in the northeast. The chance of a shower elsewhere, though fine and sunny in the far west. Fresh southeast to southwesterly winds, tending north to northwesterly in the far northeast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Thursday.Product IDN10031
