Pakistan Strengthens Desi Market

PANAMA - Jan 26/18 - SNS -- Desi chickpeas finished the week on a firmer note against recent sales of Australian product to Pakistan.

Volumes were significant enough to boost both export asking prices and prices paid to the country's farmers.

Prices had dropped in response to last month's decision by India to eliminate the duty exemption on chickpeas and lentils, pushing both duties back to the 30% level already in the tariff code.
