Good and No News Week in Peas
PANAMA - Jan 26/18 - SNS -- Field pea markets got some "news" relief from India's national holiday in Friday, because the country did not publish an update to this year's rabi seeding progress.
The numbers have limited impact, but the continued affirmation that land in winter pulses and desi chickpeas are now setting weekly records, adds to negative demand sentiment through the rest of the calendar year.
Markets in the United States, by contrast, were pleased with the latest USDA PL-480 food aid tender. Issued Friday, the tender is looking for 19,670 metric tons (MT) of whole and split yellow peas for movement from processing plants between March 1 and 22.
