Uncertainty in Kabuli Pricing

PANAMA - Jan 19/18 - SNS -- Kabuli chickpea markets finished the week's trading on an uncertain note against reports of light frost in parts of the growing area in Mexico. However, current forecasts see no frost in Sinaloa during the coming week.

Despite anxiety over production prospects for the crop, exporters in India remain aggressive because they expect land in the crop to be up sharply over last year.

India's agriculture department does not break down chickpea seeding progress by class, but with seeded area already at a record 10.623 million hectares as of January 19, they are optimistic kabuli plantings will show a bigger percentage gain than for the entire crop.
