MELBOURNE - Dec 13/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough over far southwestern Victoria will cross the remainder of western and central Victoria this evening, then will cross eastern districts during Thursday as an associated cold front passes through Bass Strait. A high pressure ridge will then extend over southern Victoria on Thursday, Friday and Saturday as a weak trough extends from inland NSW to far eastern Victoria. A high will pass to the south of Victoria on Sunday as the next trough of low pressure approaches the Bight. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayRemaining warn to hot this evening over much of the State with northerly winds, but a milder, fresh and gusty southwesterly change gradually extending from the west. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms developing over the far west tonight.Thursday 14 DecemberIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms, becoming scattered over the eastern ranges during the afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms contracting to the east by the evening then clearing. Warm in the north and also in the east at first, but milder across the south with southwesterly winds extending throughout.Fire Danger - High over the north and east, low to moderate elsewhere.Friday 15 DecemberMorning fog patches in the south, otherwise a generally fine and mostly sunny day. Isolated afternoon showers and possible thunderstorms about the far eastern ranges. Warm over the north with light winds tending westerly during the afternoon. Milder over the south with light winds and fresh afternoon coastal seabreezes.Saturday 16 DecemberMorning fog patches in the south, otherwise a generally fine and mostly sunny day.
