MELBOURNE - Dec 13/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough of low pressure and associated milder change will extend into the northeast of the State this evening and on Thursday. A high pressure system will follow the trough, moving over the Bight on Friday, Tasmania on Saturday and the Tasman Sea on Sunday. Another trough is likely to move over the west early next week. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayHot to very hot with fresh northerly winds in the northeast, ahead of a milder, fresh southwesterly change continuing to extend eastwards to reach a line near Broken Hill to Oodnadatta late evening. A slight chance of showers and possible thunderstorms following the change, more likely west of about Ceduna to Ernabella.Thursday 14 DecemberA slight to medium chance of showers and possible thunderstorms northeast of about Giles to Lameroo. A slight chance of showers over the southern agricultural area and near western coasts during the morning. Hot to very hot in the northeast with moderate northwesterly winds with milder, moderate southwest to southeasterly winds elsewhere.Friday 15 DecemberA slight chance of afternoon showers and possible thunderstorms north of about Marree to Marla. A slight chance of early morning showers about the southern coasts. Early fog patches in the Lower South East. Mild to warm about southern coasts grading to hot inland grading to very hot in the far northeast. Moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.Saturday 16 DecemberFine apart from a slight chance of afternoon showers and possible thunderstorms northeast of about Moomba to Ernabella. Mild to warm over the agricultural area grading to hot to very hot in the far north. Moderate southwest to southeasterly winds turning northeasterly in the far west.Sunday 17 December A slight to medium chance of showers developing west of Ceduna to Ernabella. Warm to hot grading to very hot in the north and west with moderate northeast to northerly winds, freshening in the west. Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Sunday will be less than 2 mm, with possible isolated falls of 2 to 5 mm with thunderstorms. Monday until WednesdayA slight to medium chance of showers in the west, extending to most districts on Tuesday, then contracting to the northeast on Wednesday, but persisting over the agricultural area and over the West Coast districts and Eyre Peninsula. Hot to very hot throughout with freshening northerly winds, ahead of a milder change extending from the west on Tuesday, reaching the far northeast of the State on Wednesday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Thursday.Product IDS10033 Notice Board 31 additional forecast locations for SA Changes to state Weather and Warnings pages --> BoM is upgrading its IT systems in South Australia on Tuesday 5 December 2017.
