MELBOURNE - Dec 11/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over western Bass Strait will weaken this morning as another high develops over the Tasman Sea. A low pressure trough will reach the far west late on Wednesday then stall over northeastern Victoria on Thursday as a cold front crosses southern Victoria. A high pressure ridge will extend over southern Victoria later on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayEarly morning cloud and patchy fog in the south. Fine and sunny otherwise apart from patchy drizzle in the far east this morning and the chance of an afternoon shower about the far eastern ranges. A warm day with light winds, milder near the coast with afternoon seabreezes.Fire Danger - High to Very High in the northwest. Low to Moderate elsewhere.Wednesday 13 DecemberFine and sunny at first. Cloud increasing from the west with with isolated showers developing in the far west at night. Hot to very hot with freshening northerly winds and afternoon seabreezes about the Gippsland coast. A cooler westerly change developing in the west at night.Thursday 14 DecemberIsolated showers developing throughout, becoming scattered over the east and near the ranges during the afternoon then contracting to the east by the evening. Isolated thunderstorms over the north and east during the afternoon. Hot northwesterly winds in the east at first, milder west to southwesterly winds extending throughout during the day.Friday 15 DecemberFine and mostly sunny apart from isolated showers and possible thunderstorms about the far eastern ranges, and the chance of a shower about the southwest coast.
